董昌明，教授，博士生导师，联合研究院院长。
南京信息工程大学海洋科学学院副院长；科技部重点研发专项首席科学家；“海洋数值模拟与观测”实验室主任； 海洋科学学院海洋科学学系系主任；亚洲及大洋洲地球科学协会 (AOGS) 海洋科学分部主席；国际著名地学SCI杂志“Deep－Sea Research”编委；卫星海洋环境动力学国家重点实验室特聘海星学者。曾获2016年度国家海洋技术奖，二等奖；2016年年度国家海洋优秀图书奖；2016年度江苏省海洋与渔业科技创新奖一等奖。
董教授先后获得中国科技大学学士、国家海洋局一所硕士、中科院海洋所博士、美国哥伦比亚大学硕士和博士学位，先后主持科技部、国家基金委、美国自然科学基金（NSF）、美国航天航空局（NASA）、美国海军研究办公室（ONR）、美国海上能源局（BOEM）等机构资助的科研项目，发表了一系列具有创新性和开拓性的SCI论文，指导多名硕士、博士研究生和博士后。承担若干国际大型石油公司的海上环境评估的长年咨询业务。2015年由科技出版社出版40万字的专著《海洋涡旋探测与分析》，这是国际国内首部有关海洋涡旋的专著。2016年出版专著《海洋绿色能源》、2017年出版专著《郑和下西洋中的海洋学》。目前完成《物理海洋学导论》，正交付科学出版社出版中。
董昌明教授积极参与和组织国际科学领域的学术活动，例如，2016年在南京信息工程大学成功举办有200多人参加的首届“国际区域海洋模拟与观测会议”；多次在世界最大的海洋年会“Ocean Science Meeting”主持专题会议；参与亚洲及大洋洲地球协会（AOGS）的组织管理工作，2017年夏天在新加坡被选为AOGS海洋分部候任主席。

Prof. Dong obtained his bachelor degree from the China University of Science and Technology, his master degree from the First Institute of Oceanography, his PhD degree from the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and his second master and PhD degree from the Columbia University in the United States. He presided over Ministry of Science and Technology, National Foundation, Natural Science Foundation (NSF), NASA, Office of Naval Research (ONR), Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), and other agencies funded research projects, published a series of innovative and pioneering SCI papers, and supervised master, PhD and post-doctoral research work. Prof. Dong has been a marine environmental assessment consultant for several major international oil companies. In 2015, his 400,000-word monograph “Ocean Eddy Detection and Analysis” was published by the Science and Technology Press. It was the first domestic and international monograph on ocean vortex. In 2016, he published his monograph “Ocean Green Energy”, and in 2017, he published his monograph “Oceanography and Zheng He's Voyages”. At present, his latest book “Introduction to Physical Oceanography” is being submitted to Science Press for publication.
Prof. Dong actively participates in and organizes academic activities on an international level. For example, the First International Workshop on Regional Oceanic Numerical Modeling and Observation with over 200 participants was successfully held in Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology in 2016. He has hosted several special conferences in Ocean Science Meeting, the world's largest annual ocean conference. He also participated in the organization and management of the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS) and was elected as the Chairman of the AOGS Ocean Science section in Singapore in the summer of 2017.
